Ph.D Computer Science and Engineering at OUTR (CET) Bhubaneswar Offline Course

Course details.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) is an offered Full-time Doctoral program and it is offered by Odisha University of Technology and Research, Bhubaneswar. Ph.D. program shall be for a minimum duration of three years, including course work and a maximum of six years. Extension beyond the above limits will be governed by the relevant clauses as stipulated in the Statute/Ordinance of the individual Institution concerned.

Eligibility Criteria

Master's degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.  

Candidates who have cleared the M.Phil. course work with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and successfully completing the M.Phil. Degree shall be eligible to proceed to do research work leading to the Ph. D. Degree in the same Institution in an integrated programme. A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC(non-creamy layer)/differently-abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.

An applicant is required to apply online to appear for the Common PG Entrance Test (CPET-2024). The registration will be done through an OTP (One Time Password) based process, In the Registration Page the Date of Birth (DOB) option will be added as another validation option along with the Name, Mobile Number and e-Mail ID. Hence the provided mobile number & email id must be active for all types of communications regarding CPET-2024. Based on the Entrance Mark & Career Mark, the subject-wise state wide provisional rank will be announced. Based on their position and probability (can be assessed by visiting the last year cut-off Mark), applicants will opt for their choice of preferences. Silicon University with an established research base and extensive infrastructural facilities, offers Ph.D. programs in a wide range of areas in Engineering, Science, Humanities, Social Sciences, and allied interdisciplinary areas.

The Ph.D. program objectives are twofold: (a) to keep pace with the expanding frontiers of knowledge and (b) to provide research training to meet the demands of the social and economic growth objectives of India.

Silicon’s dedicated Research Center at its engineering institute campus, SiliconTech, anchors and supports an expanding research enterprise committed to producing new knowledge, strengthening existing scholarship and discovering solutions with the potential to benefit society.

More than 60% of our faculty have a Ph.D. with extensive research experience. Some of the faculty members are registered guides at various other universities. Several research scholars studying under them have received their Ph.D. degrees in different scientific and technical disciplines.

Ph.D. Program at Silicon

Silicon launched its own Ph.D. program in January 2022, in accordance with the UGC guidelines. This program has been approved by the Academic Council of the Institute. In its inaugural year, 43 candidates have joined the Ph.D. program after qualifying the entrance test and interview. The Institute Doctoral Committee (IDC) and individual Doctoral Scrutiny Committees (DSCs) are conducted to monitor the programs at Silicon. The offered disciplines are

As per the official notification, the applications are invited from Indian citizens for admission in the Ph.D program scheduled to commence from January 3, 2022 in the School of Biological Sciences (SBS), School of Chemical Sciences (SCS), School of Computer Sciences (SCPS) and School of Mathematical Sciences (SMS).

The National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar has issued an important notice regarding admissions to Ph.D program: 2021-22 (Winter Session).

Already NISER has activated the online application window from October 1 and the last date for filling up online application is October 31, 2021.

Eligibility:

1. Biological Sciences : 60% or equivalent GPA in Masters or M. Tech or M. Pharm in any branches of Agricultural Sciences, Biology, Life Sciences, Pharmacy (any specialization), Veterinary Sciences, Computer Sciences, Bioinformatics and Biotechnology. Students with Master’s degree in Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics having interest in pursuing a career in Biology are also encouraged to apply.

2. Chemical Sciences: 60% or equivalent GPA in Masters in Chemistry or allied Chemistry fields. Student with Master’s degree in any branches of BasicSciences with undergraduate degree in Chemistry (or chemistry as one of the subjects) or M.Tech in applied Chemistry or Computer Sciences.

3. Computer Sciences : 60% or equivalent GPA in Masters in Computer Science/Mathematics/Electronics/Electrical Engineering or related fields.

4. Mathematical Sciences : 60% or equivalent GPA in Master’s degree examination

Important Note: The cut off marks for national examination such as GATE/ JEST/GPAT /NBHM/ JGEEBILS/ CSIR-UGC-NET will be further decided by each School for the relevant subject area.

As per HBNI Ordinance, student having DST INSPIRE Doctoral Fellowship only, without qualifying any other national level written examination as mentioned above will not be considered for admission to Ph.D program in NISER.

Candidates with GPA in qualifying degree may need to produce the conversion note (in case it is not mentioned in their mark sheet) from their institution towards calculation of percentage.

Fellowship Students with institute fellowship from NISER will be eligible to draw Rs. 31,000 for first two years, which will subsequently be enhanced to Rs. 35,000 for remaining three years, subject to the condition that he/she fulfils all the requirements of the Institute that will be stipulated from time to time.

Students with external fellowship from agencies viz. CSIR, UGC etc will be eligible to draw fellowship as per the extant rules of the respective funding agencies.

The University invites Application for its Doctoral Programme (Entry June 2024).

Candidates who have qualified in JRF, GATE and NET etc are encouraged to apply.

Candidates can align themselves with one of the 25 multidisciplinary research centers that have been promoted by the University.

Stipend Full time scholars are encouraged to apply for the doctoral programme. Selected candidates will be paid a stipend of Rs 20,000 for three years. If NET/ICAR/GATE qualified, the candidate will be paid according to UGC rules. In addition to their own research work, they are expected to engage in teaching, training and research projects of the University. -->
