About the Show

Resilience means to bounce back, to recover quickly from difficulty. Interior design graduates are prepared to face any design problem they are presented with.

Designers are constantly proposing new ideas and advancements to aid in post-pandemic recovery as well as recovery from other catastrophic events. To have resilience as designers, we pursue success by bouncing back from challenges and providing designs for a better world.

The Bachelor of Interior Design graduating class of 2023 will strive to design a resilient world. The future is resilience, the future is us.

Online full-time programs are offered as either Daytime, or a combination of Evenings and Saturdays. Check your program Dates and Times to see what the program commitment will be.

Find out more about Full-Time Online programs

Humber is proud to have the highest graduate employment and employer satisfaction rate of the GTA colleges based on Colleges Ontario’s key performance indicators for college graduates in 2022-2023.

Program Overview

Industrial designers design products for consumers. Examples include sports footwear, headphones, wearables and transportation.

Graduates of the program are in high demand for the practical skills gained through the program’s hands-on learning environment. These skills include sketching, digital graphic rendering, model-making and computer-aided design (CAD).

The program is project driven, and many of the design projects will involve industry collaboration to ensure real-world relevance.

Students elect a design specialization in Year 3 in one of:

  • transportation design
  • product design
  • interaction design

Transportation designers  design the appearance (styling) of motor vehicles including automobiles, motorcycles and off-road vehicles. Humber is the only industrial design program in Canada that offers a transportations design specialization.

In  product design , the emphasis is on the method of finding a solution to a user’s problem so that doing a task is easier or the user experience is more satisfying.

Interaction design  is a new offering in the program which recognizes that more and more physical products are integrating a digital component, including touch screens or voice activation.

Current students, please make sure to review your MyHumber Academic Progress report to confirm which courses you should register into for your Winter semester. Courses with in-person requirements will likely also have online components. Humber may need to change plans for in-person learning, subject to government and public health directives and/or additional health and safety considerations.

Work-Integrated Learning

Work-integrated learning  .

This program includes a field experience of 420 hours in the summer between Years 3 and 4.

Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) at Humber

Work-integrated learning.

Work-integrated learning opportunities prepare you for your future career. You will apply what you’ve learned in class and in real-world environments through a wide range of academic, community and industry partnerships. These work-integrated learning opportunities may include field experiences, professional practicums and co-operative education.

Field Experience

A field experience offers students an opportunity to engage in intensive experiences related to their field of study or career goals to build their skills, knowledge and abilities. Field experiences may be paid or unpaid.

Professional Practicum

Programs requiring a professional practicum offer practice-based experience or work hours for a professional license or certification. Students work under the direct supervision of an experienced professional. Placements are unpaid.

Co-operative Education

Students in co-op programs gain experience through paid work terms in their field of study that become progressively more complex as their skill level increases.

Optional Co-operative Education

Students in co-op programs gain experience through paid work terms in their field of study that become progressively more complex as their skill level increases. The co-op portion of this program is optional.

Program History: A Legacy of Success

The Bachelor of Industrial Design became Humber’s FIRST four-year Honours Bachelor’s degree in 2004. Prior to the launch of the degree, Humber’s Industrial Design diploma had been making connections with industry as far back as 1972! Building upon its successes, the program has been consistently and continuously updated in order to keep pace with the changing demands of the industry.

Beginning in Fall 2020, a third specialization of interaction design has been added to the program to complement specializations in product design and automotive design. This new area of development in industrial design is based on integration of digital with physical products. Humber is proud to be the first industrial design program in Canada to introduce this speciality.

THE HISTORY OF THE COMPANY CREATION

1993 how the construction company remstroy was created   the year 1993 was a period when a lot of construction companies, which had been working successfully during the soviet times and had rich staff capacity, were forced to cease their activity for various reasons. a lot of capable specialists either had to look for another job or change their field. but there were also those who were willing to realise their potential in the field of construction in accordance with the received degree and the experience they had accumulated. thus, in 1993 in elektrostal (moscow oblast) a group of specialists and people sharing each other’s ideas, who had enormous educational background and the highest degree in architecture, organized and registered ooo firm erg which began its rapid development and successful work, offering its service both on the construction market and other areas. 2000 industrial construction is the main area   seven years of successful work have shown that combining different types of activities in the same company is not always convenient. and in the year 2000 the founders of ooo firm erg decided to create and register a monoprofile construction company ooo remstroy construction company. industrial construction was chosen as the priority area. it was in this area that the directors of ooo sk remstroy began their working life and grew as specialists. in order to achieve the set goal, they selected a mobile team of professionals in the field of industrial construction, which allows us to cope with the tasks assigned to ooo sk remstroy throughout russia and the near abroad. 2010 manufacturing of metal structures   we possess modern equipment that allows us to carry out the entire cycle of works on the manufacture of metal structures of any complexity without assistance. designing – production – installation of metal structures. a staff of professionals and well-coordinated interaction of the departments let us carry out the work as soon as possible and in accordance with all customer’s requirements.” extract from the list of members of self-regulatory organizations, construction.
