Readsdirect.ie use a high quality 100gsm paper semi gloss paper, this means that the maximum number of sheets in each thesis is 270 sheets. This is for a thesis printed on one side or 470 pages if printed on both sides of the page. We suggest you check with the regulations from your college but the above page count would be sufficient for most colleges. Larger page count: If the page count is above the readsdirect.ie maximum we would suggest 2 volumes. If you have any questions contact us at [email protected] to discuss your options and find a resolution.

How quick can i get my thesis from readsdirect.ie.

If correct files and details submitted before 10.00 am on any given day we will aim to have within 24 to 48 hours depending on volume of orders received instore or by online order form. You must save the file correctly in PDF format only – not word,excel, powerpoint, jpg or any other file. In submitting your file in PDF it will insure there is no variance from what you see on your screen or print out. If you have a lot of text boxes , images imported, graphs and so on please check that they have saved correctly. We suggest try print on a home printer a few selected pages you would be worried about to verify if all is correct. If done on word on a mac definitely save to pdf and try flatten any graphics on pages.

1. Make sure you proof read the file again and check that any changes you made were saved and that the correct file name is saved. 2. Single sided print or double sided!

We can print either option for you – check with your college to see what the specific regulations are also allow for this when you are typing up your thesis regularly check the word counts and page counts.Test them by saving in pdf to see page count – so you can either add or subtract to reach min or max page count. Some colleges and courses will want double sided or single sided – so please check first before you start the thesis. If single sided specify this on the order form as its very easy to follow .If you require double sided printing make sure you check the page numbering is correctly positioned like centre so it runs coherently throughout your thesis

Colour printing costs!

To save the best possible money on your thesis remember that colour pages should only be colour where necessary. There is a lot to think about when it comes formatting a document for printing. Document editors such as Word, Open Office and Google Docs can have default settings so here are a few tips for setting up a project that we have learnt along the way.

• Check your page size once you open the application
• Decide if its going to be a single sided or double sided document. If the document is going to be double sided, use mirrored margins or have the margins centred. Same set up applies to page numbers.

• Please bear in mind that most heading styles have colour and when printing this can be expensive so a BOLD  greyscale heading would be as effective as a blue heading

Foil stamping, printed on the front cover and spine, can be either a gold or silver color. Softcover theses and dissertations come with a full color printed cover.
• We have no minimum quantity requirements.  In most instances, the number of printed copies needed for a thesis or dissertation are low. The size of thesis/dissertation orders we receive vary from a high of around ten to a low of one copy. We can print as many or as few copies of your thesis or dissertation at an affordable price and with the same amount of attention we give to larger book orders.

Our Hard Cover books include top & bottom Headbands – chequered fabric that decorate and protect the edges of the spine of your book. Hard Cover books also use archival-quality Endsheets – the pages which attach your book’s body to its Hard Cover case, as well as heavy blank/fly pages on the front & back cover.

Remote Printing

You can print remotely to all of our libraries. There are three ways you can do this - upload to PrintSpots, use the PrinterOn app, or email to one of our machines. Please watch our remote printing youtube video and read the information below.

Visit the PrinterOn PrintSpots directory , choose Ireland, and choose Cork.

• Select the library where you wish to pick up your prints
• Upload your document
• Click or tap the Print icon
• Note the six digit release code
• Call to the library, enter the release code, enter the payment and collect your prints.

PrinterOn App

You can print from your mobile device with the PrinterOn app. Find further information on the PrinterOn website , or download directly from Google Play or the App Store.

You can email your document to a specific library printer. Choose the email address for the document you want printed. This means, if you want a colour A4 document, email to the email address that has colour and A4 in it, for example [email protected].  Attach your document and put Print as the title for the email.
