Event management in offices, firms, businesses, and other types of organizations is not an easy task. To ensure that the appropriate individuals receive the appropriate message at the appropriate moment, effective communication is required at every stage. This criterion is readily satisfied when utilizing SMS on mobile phones. The goal of this study was to solve the issues that come up while handling events manually, provide a practical solution, and hasten the transmission of information about the client's meetings and activities, the Mindanao People's Care Foundation Inc. (MPCFI). The main objective of the project is to design and develop an Event Management System with SMS notification to notify the employees of the aforementioned clients about important and/or urgent events and announcements. The system was deployed using the framework - dependent deployment with Microsoft Visual Studio. While the database was deployed using SQL Server. This research provides significant contributions in promoting productivity since it is easy to use and is time-saving. It also provides safety and security of records since it’s free from the flaws of using the traditional paper and verbal announcements. With its SMS notification feature, the employees and volunteers can quickly receive the important messages without the need of internet connection. It therefore promotes good flow of communication between superiors and subordinates within the office/organization.

Existing mass Short Message Service (SMS) mailing systems are designed to work with a specific SMS gateway hence resulting in user lock-in to a SMS vendor. Also, some SMS gateways support scheduling of SMS message to be sent at a later time and date, others do not support it. Moreover, those gateways that support scheduling don't mostly allow users to cancel scheduled SMS message. This study has successfully designed and developed an enterprise class mass SMS mailing system that support multiple users as well as multiple SMS gateways, providing a unified interface and common set of features across many SMS gateways which prevent vendor lock-in as users can choose among multiple SMS vendor gateways. Another major feature provided by the new system is the introduction of SMS message scheduling. This feature makes SMS message scheduling possible across all SMS gateways including those that do not internally support scheduling. Moreover, users can also cancel any scheduled message if the need be.

Abstract: An automated lecture alert management system has been developed using java programming concept knownfor its portability. This backend system was interfaced with the GSM network through USB port of a PC and GSM modem. The desktop SMS application was developed using C# programming language. It generates updates and reminder from a time schedule stored in a database thereby making the system a time triggered application.

With the changing communication services, it's all on the user to choose what way of communication is suitable to communicate with different set of devices. For this an up-to date user presence is required for an essential condition for synchronized communications. Smartphone's are a rich resource of framework information; though, this information is presently not applied by the existing over-the-top communication systems to completely change user presence position in agreement with his/her situation and typical daily activities. Our proposed system will be available for all college students who have an android enabled smart phone. Using our system students will be able to use features like sending text message and file between other students, view notifications sent by faculty members or HOD or Principal. Students will also be able to clear their doubts by posting their queries on the forum and get their doubts cleared. A web portal is made available for the faculty and administration to post/send their notification and answer for the particular query.

Mobile phones are now considered as an essential part of people’s daily lives which is used for communication and provides diversified information. The use of mobile phone is not only limited to communication alone, but now used for subscription to value-added services like disaster warning, alert systems, and notifications. The development of School Event Notification through SMS is beneficial to students, teachers, and parents in receiving first-hand information from the school right into their mobile phone. With the use of SMS Notification, students will be notified with the upcoming events of the school, changes in schedule of events, and suspension of classes due to bad weather. Teachers will be notified for schedule of meetings, emergency meetings, and deadlines of requirements. Parents will also be informed about the school activities and be aware of the activities of their children in school. The system was tested and evaluated using ISO 9126 standard questionnaire for software quality characteristics such as functionality, reliability, usability, efficiency, maintainability, and portability. The result implies that the overall usefulness of the system is very effective, that is, it is highly functional, highly reliable, highly usable, highly efficient, highly maintainable and highly portable.

Organizations conduct meetings, seminars, rallies, exhibitions and many other activities as part of their routine operations. Urgent situations usually arise which need to be addressed. Notification systems are used to inform organizational workers to attend to these situations. The common mechanisms include physical information board, radio systems, emails and short messages systems. These mechanisms pose such numerous drawbacks as broadcasting information to wrong listeners, intended recipients not readily available to read the information or attend to urgent events. This paper proposes a new mechanism for issuing notifications to available and authorized organizational members through their mobile phones with the help of Bluetooth communication technology. The paper also compares Bluetooth and infra-red communication technologies considering both their advantages and disadvantages. The system is implemented using Java.
