Türkiye Scholarships has designed different and specific scholarship programs for each education level. It offers many qualified scholarship opportunities ranging from long-term bachelor’s, master’s as well as PhD scholarships to research and merit-based scholarships, art scholarships to joint scholarship programs created with international reputable institutions.

Scholarship

Türkiye Scholarship

• provides university and department placements unlike other higher education scholarship programs.

Graduate Programs Scholarship Opportunities

100 % or 50 % tuition fee scholarship opportunities are available for new students from Turkey and other international students in the PhD programs.

100 % and 50% tuition fee scholarship is available for new students from Turkey and 50% tuition fee scholarship is available for other international students in the Master’s programs.

Application for Scholarship

Students who will enroll in their respective programs for the first time  may apply for scholarship opportunities. (Students who terminate (or dismissed)  their registration and re-apply can not get scholarship)

The applications are made during the online program application. Applications are accepted from prospective students twice a year for Fall and Spring semesters.   

Online application to graduate programs

International students can apply for 100% and 50% scholarships for PhD programs and 50 % scholarship in Master’s programs.

Turkish Republic citizens can apply for 100% and 50% scholarships for Master’s and PhD programs.

Students who have registered with special or visiting student status are not eligible to receive this scholarship.

Evaluation Criteria

International and TR national  PhD program candidates

Minimum requirement: 

• To be graduated with a minimum  3.00 (out of 4.00) CGPA  or equivalent  from an undergraduate degree program
• To be graduated between 2.75 - 2.99 CGPA out of 4.00 from an undergraduate degree program  or equivalent and have relevant ALES score of 65 or higher (for Turkish citizens) or have minimum CGPA of 3.50 out of 4.00 or equivalent from a Graduate (Master's) Program graduation.    

The departments will rank the applicants based on their departmental assessment criteria (not only CGPA). The department may grant 100% or 50% scholarships.

The shortlisted candidates are announced as scheduled in the Scholarship Calendar  The shortlisted candidates are required to complete their registration by the working hours of the given deadline date. Otherwise, new candidates may replace their names in the second list. 

Students, whose name appeared in the second scholarship list and could not complete their regsitration by the deadline due to compelling reasons (i.e. visa, transportation issues, etc.) may appeal to the Institute of Graduate Studies and Research before the deadline, to have extension upon receiving approval for their petition. 

Scholarship is not given to students who was once registered in the same level of program of Eastern Mediterranean University and re-apply.   The scholarship of the student is cancelled if such an action is detected. 

TR national  master’s program candidates

The evaluation criteria for TR national master’s program candidates will be as follows:

Minimum requirement to be considered for 100% and 50% scholarship is 3.00 (out of 4.00) or higher undergraduate graduation CGPA .

• To be graduated with a minimum 3.00 (out of 4.00) CGPA or equivalent from an undergraduate degree program
• To be graduated between 2.75 - 2.99 CGPA out of 4.00 from an undergraduate degree program or equivalent and have a relevant ALES score of 65 or higher for thesis programs or to have ALES minimum score of 65 from any type, for non-thesis programs. 

The departments will rank the applicants based on their departmental assessment criteria (not only CGPA). The department may grant 100% or 50% scholarships to applicants.

The shortlisted candidates are announced as scheduled in the  Scholarship Calendar  The shortlisted candidates are required to complete their registration by the working hours of the given deadline date. Otherwise, new candidates may replace their names in the second list. 

Scholarship is not given to students who terminate their registration with the University and re-apply in order to get scholarship. The scholarship of the student is cancelled if such a behaviour is detected.

International master’s program candidates

The 50% scholarships for international students who will enroll in a master’s program will be announced after the acceptance decision is made to the program. This scholarship information will appear in the letter of acceptance for the program.

Category ' E' Research Assistant Position : In accordance with Article 4(5) of the ‘Research Assistant Appointment and Postgraduate Scholarship Regulations’, students who are granted with 100% scholarship are appointed as ‘Category E Research Assistant’. These students are expected to undertake duties for at least 6 hours per week at academic units or, if deemed necessary, administrative units.

In cases, where the student is appointed from other research assistant category position, he/she can keep 100% scholarship (Category E research assistant position) until he/she resigns, on the condition that he/she still satisfies the continuation of the %100 scholarship.

Students who are granted with 50% scholarship are not assigned as Category E Research assistant. In cases, where the student is also appointed as part-time research assistant, he/she has to choose one of the scholarships.

Conditions for the Continuation of the Scholarship

The period of scholarship is four semesters in master’s programs and ten semesters in PhD programs during the normal period of the program. A student’s part time or full time status does not affect the period of scholarship. Semesters of extensions and freezing of registration are excluded from the scope of the scholarship. Fees for freezing registration are covered by the student.

Semesters spent in the scientific preparation program and/or English support program are included in the normal period of scholarship, on the condition the maximum period of one year has not been exceeded.

Scholarship of students who have undergone program changes continue, on the condition that they do not have any failed courses including seminar, project, thesis and PhD exam and that their minimum CGPA is 3.00/4.00. Scholarship period is not extended for extra semesters of study emerging due to program changes.

Courses with NI status taken within the normal scholarship period are included in the scope of the scholarship.

A student giving up the scholarship may not return back to the scholarship status unless s/he re-registers to the university and re-applies for the scholarship.

Conditions for the Cancellation / Termination of Scholarship

(a) requirements of a scholarship/discount not being fulfilled, (b) cancelling registration from the University or failing to renew one’s registration, (c) engaging oneself in an action that is accepted as a disciplinary offense which results in the termination of the scholarship/discount.

Around 44% of Bilkent University’s student body benefits from a variety of scholarships. None of these Bilkent University scholarships carry any future obligations on the part of the recipient.

Scholarships for International Students International applicants who apply for financial assistance will be evaluated according to their high school grades and their national and international exam scores.

Turkish citizens may qualify for a Full or 50% tuition scholarship based on their placement via the Evaluation, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). In the ÖSYM system there are different quotas for each scholarship status. Students qualifying for Full Scholarship may further qualify for a Comprehensive Scholarship based on their university entrance exam performance. The scholarships are guaranteed to continue for two years in the English Preparatory Program, for up to 2 years in the English Preparatory program and up to 6 years in the undergraduate programs. The comprehensive scholarship of students whose undergraduate education extends beyond five years, becomes a full scholarship in the 6 th year. For the students who have previously benefited from the Bilkent University scholarships, the previous scholarship duration is deduced from the maximum duration. On the condition that the student takes the normal course load each semester and attends the classes regularly, Bilkent University assures that scholarships will not be terminated within the maximum allowed duration and will not be affected by issues such as grade point average or passing course. Those students who are replaced in the same department in the following central placement period, cannot benefit from Bilkent University scholarships (excluding non-credit courses, GE100 and GE251 courses and withdrawn courses). Comprehensive and Full Scholarship students who attend the Summer School, do not pay any tuition; 50% scholarship students pay half of the course fee.

Full Scholarship: In order to qualify for a Full Scholarship, a student must be placed to a program via the Full Scholarship quota as listed in the Higher Education Programs and Quotas Guide published by ÖSYM. Full Scholarship students receive a full tuition waiver. The students who previously graduated from a university with a bachelor’s degree cannot benefit from a full scholarship.

Comprehensive Scholarship: Full Scholarship students will qualify for a Comprehensive Scholarship if they are ranked in the top 10.000 (within the ranking of 0.12 multiplier scores) in one of the score types SAY, EA, SÖZ, or in the top 250 in the score type DİL, and be placed to a department with the same score type.

In addition to a full tuition waiver, the Comprehensive scholarship offers a monthly stipend (4,500 TL per month for 8 months per annum for 2023-2024 academic year) and free accommodation in double room dormitories. Any comprehensive scholar, who does not choose to stay in dormitories will receive an additional stipend of 2,000 TL per month. The students who previously graduated from a university with a bachelor’s degree cannot benefit from a comprehensive scholarship.

50% Scholarship: In order to qualify for a 50% Scholarship, a student must be placed to a program via the 50% Scholarship quota as listed in the Higher Education Programs and Quotas Guide published by ÖSYM. 50% Scholarship students receive a 50% tuition waiver. The students may also be granted a merit scholarship provided they meet the qualifications. The students who previously graduated from a university with a bachelor’s degree cannot benefit from a 50% scholarship.

Talent-Based Scholarship: The Faculty of Music and Performing Arts offer talent-based scholarships to students who demonstrate a high level of performance in the entrance exam. The talent-based scholarship covers partial tuition waiver and its continuation depends on the academic success of the student. The students who previously graduated from a university with a bachelor’s degree cannot benefit from a talent-based scholarship.

The talent-based scholarship covers either full tuition waiver or partial tuition waiver and it is non-refundable. Its continuation depends on the academic success of the student.

In terms of the talent-based scholarships, it is considered unsuccessful for the students to get FZ in the English Preparatory Program. (The students who get F in the ECA exam, are not considered unsuccessful in terms of scholarship.)

The success criteria and the continuation of the scholarship of the Music and Performing Art students are determined and evaluated by the scholarship committee.

The Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture students in the undergraduate program should take at least a minimum curriculum course load every semester and should attain a grade point average of at least 1.80. (excluding non-credit courses, GE100 and GE251 courses and withdrawn courses.).

The Music and Performing Arts talent-based scholarship students who were abroad as an exchange student in the previous two semesters, grade point average will be based on single semester grade average. Exchange students in the exchange semester should get passing grades from the minimum course load they have taken from their departments. The failed students’ scholarship will be terminated. Those students whose scholarships have been terminated due to failure, will not benefit from a scholarship even if they are successful in subsequent years. The scholarship of the students with disciplinary penalty will be terminated. If the students with talent-based scholarship want to transfer to another department, the internal transfer regulations will be essential.

Merit Scholarship: Non-scholarship students who have taken at least a minimum curriculum course load (excluding any additional courses, withdrawn courses, GE 100-250-251, non-credit courses and repeated courses in Spring, already taken in Fall semester) and attained a grade point average of 3.30 or above for one academic year are eligible to receive a merit scholarship for the following academic year if they are ranked in the top 5% of all non-scholarship students in their department. 50% Scholarship students who have taken at least a minimum curriculum course load (excluding any additional courses, withdrawn courses, GE 100-250-251, non-credit courses and repeated courses in Spring, already taken in Fall semester) and attained a grade point average of 3.30 or above for one academic year are eligible to receive a merit scholarship for the following academic year if they are ranked in the top 3% of all scholarship students in their department. Merit scholarships provide partial or full tuition waiver, depending on the rank of the student. Students in English or French Preparatory programs do not qualify for this type of scholarship.

Scholarships at Koç University for international students

Koç University prides itself in offering scholarship packages for high-caliber international and domestic undergraduate and graduate students that meet our selective admissions criteria.

Undergraduate International Scholarships

Koç University awards merit-based tuition scholarships of 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100% to outstanding candidates each year (except for Medicine).  There is no separate application period or scholarship form. All candidates will be informed if they have been awarded a scholarship or not with their admission offer. To be considered for a merit-based scholarship please keep the following information in mind before submitting your application:

• Submitting an application without one of the required exam scores (SAT/ACT, IB, A-Levels, or others) significantly diminishes your admission chances and therefore your scholarship chances. You can see the list of eligible exam scores here .
• All admitted students are first evaluated for a merit-based scholarship by the Admissions Committee on the basis of academic merit only (need-blind). These scholarships can be awarded for 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100% of the annual tuition for the duration of the program. Merit-based scholarships do not include any other benefits (housing, living expenses, books, etc).
• The School of Medicine does NOT award any type of merit or need-based scholarships for admitted international students. You should carefully consider before applying if you are able to fund your Medicine studies without a scholarship.
• Scholarship results are communicated to candidates with the admission offer letter from our Registrar’s Office via email on the dates indicated here .

Graduate International Scholarships (Master with Thesis/Research Masters)

To be considered for a scholarship:

• Complete and submit the online application form for your Master with Thesis program of interest with all the required documents (this includes a valid GRE/GMAT and TOEFL test score). There are NO SEPARATE SCHOLARSHIP FORMS. Graduate program applications are available here .
• Submitting an application without the required exam scores (GRE/GMAT, TOEFL) significantly diminishes your admission chances and therefore your scholarship chances.
• All admitted Master with Thesis students are awarded 100% merit-based scholarships by the relevant Graduate School (except for the Graduate School of Health Sciences). Merit-based scholarships may also include other benefits (living expenses, health insurance) depending on the Graduate School. Please note that the LLM with Thesis program is not included in this category.
• Scholarship results are communicated to candidates with the admission offer letter from the relevant Graduate School via email on the dates indicated on their respective websites under “Admission”.

Graduate International Scholarships (Master without Thesis/Taught Masters)

Professional master’s programs (Master without Thesis) at Koç University in the fields of Data Science, Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, LLM, Public Policy, Global Health, MBA, EMBA, Finance, and others, are offered on an affordable tuition-paying basis to both domestic and international students. There are no tuition scholarships for these programs.

If you need the scholarship to pursue your graduate studies we recommend that you prepare and submit an application to our Master with Thesis programs instead.

The Turkish Government’s Turkish Scholarships (Türkiye Bursları) program at Koç University does NOT include support for Master Non-Thesis programs.

Graduate International Scholarships (Ph.D./Doctoral)

Koç University offers all Ph.D. domestic and international admitted students a full scholarship for the duration of their studies. Admission to our Ph.D. programs is very competitive due to the very large number of qualified applicants. To be considered for admission and therefore, the scholarship, we recommend that you keep in mind the following information before submitting your application:
