The aim of this research was to estimate the impacts of a combination of titanium oxide (TiO2) nanoparticles and fennel essential oil (FEO) on the chemical and sensory properties of fresh raw Abbas Ali pistachio. The cassava starch/bovine gelatin biofilms with Nano-TiO2 (1, 3, and 5% w/w), and essential oil (1, and 3% w/w) were fabricated by the casting technique. The sensory and chemical properties and the growth of Aspergillus flavus were evaluated during three weeks of storage at 4°C. After 21-day conservation, Aspergillus flavus count of the control specimen was the highest whereas bionanocomposite film containing FEO enabled lower amounts of Aspergillus flavus population. RP-HPLC analysis findings represented that packaging with starch/gelatin had a positive effect on the aflatoxin B1 content of pistachio, and the lowest amount of aflatoxin B1 was related to the biofilm containing 5% Nano-TiO2/3% FEO. Sensory tests indicated that pistachios packaged with Nano-TiO2/essential oil had a significant effect on taste and general acceptability, and the highest score of sensory properties was related to the pistachio sample packaged with starch/gelatin/5% Nano-Tio2/3% FEO. Results showed that cassava starch/bovine gelatin film containing 5% Nano-TiO2/3% FEO and control sample had significantly higher and lower moisture and carbohydrate soluble content than the treatments. At last, the findings demonstrate that cassava starch/bovine gelatin/5% Nano-TiO2/3% FEO active film improved the chemical and sensory factors and had the positive effect on Aspergillus flavus population reduction of pistachio nuts; hence, it can be applied as biopackaging for fresh pistachio.

Monitoring the data of groundwater level in long-term measurement series has allowed for assessment of the impact of natural and anthropogenic factors on groundwater recharge. It allows for assessing the actual groundwater quantity, which constitutes the basis for balanced and sustainable groundwater planning and management in an urban area. Groundwater levels in three aquifers were studied: the shallow and deeper Quaternary aquifers and the Oligocene aquifer in Warsaw (Poland). Statistical analysis was performed on a 27-year (1993–2019) cycle of daily measurements of groundwater levels. The studies focused on determining the range and causes of groundwater level changes in urban-area aquifers. The groundwater table position in the Quaternary aquifer pointed to variable long-term recharge and allowed for the identification of homogenous intervals with identification of water table fluctuation trends. A decrease in the water table was observed within the Quaternary aquifers. The Olig...

Today, obesity has become the number one concern of kids and teens. About one in three Americans are overweight or obese. This in part is due to the consumption of highly commercialized and processed foods that lack the essential nutrients in maintaining a healthy weight in addition to normal cholesterol and blood pressure levels. Studies have shown that eating habits are learned early in life and are carried on throughout the rest of their lives. As children grow older into their adolescent years, they are more aware of their eating habits and have gained more autonomy in regards to food choices.
Plant-based foods have shown to drastically improve the overall health of individuals with high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and excess weight.
Power Plant is a facility that intends offer plant-based nutritional services in the form of informative lectures, interactive workshops, one-on-one nutritional guidance by appointment, with access to peer-mentors for additional support and guidance. Power Plant will dedicate their services to the Whittier Union high school district, surrounding community colleges, and universities in the Los Angeles County area.
Power Plant’s unique program design, physician referrals and the critical need of our generations to come, are all factors that will contribute to its success in the Los Angeles County community and for years to come.

Background: The current condition of the U.S. housing market has created a
possible shift in the way people are purchasing homes today.
U.S. housing statistics show that the average person moves
every five years, but now with a cooling market people are no
longer making quick capital gains off of their property. This
means that people are now becoming more conscious of what
they buy and why they are buying. People are realizing that
home ownership may be moving towards a long term
investment rather than a quick flip.
Housing is the Seattle, Washington area is expensive.
Environmentalists are urging U.S. residents to research ways
they can make their homes more efficient and friendlier to the
environment. However, the problem really lies in the
construction techniques of the U.S. housing industry. People
pay enough for their poorly constructed homes as it is, most
families are unwilling to pay the extra expense that is necessary
to increase the efficiency of their home. StålbroHouse noticed
this gap in the U.S. market and wants to bring Swedish
prefabricated homes that are superior in construction and
design elements. They also require a fraction of the energy
U.S. homes consume and are affordable for the average middle
class family.
Before beginning operations, to get some initial knowledge
about the industry, trends, customers etc., we contacted the
Washington State Housing Finance Commission. In addition,
an informal interview was conducted to enhance our
knowledge on the typical customer and what customers
commonly base their purchasing decisions on. In order to get
an even better understanding about the customers, we visited
the annual Home Show at the Seattle Convention Center in
January of 2008. We distributed feasibility surveys to get an
even better understanding for what people want in a home.
This enabled us to get closer to the target group. To get a better
idea of competitors and in particular their marketing efforts, we
called a couple of them directly. In some cases, we spoke with
their marketing managers.
Purpose: The purpose of this Thesis/Business Plan is to outline the
direction StålbroHouse plans to take in its first years of
operation as well as explain why we think this is a viable
business. This document will also serve to communicate the
companies ideas and projections to future investors and (or) so
that we can obtain a bank loan to assist in the capital necessary
to begin operations.
Method: We used a combination of relevant theory that was applicable
to the desired outcomes of the Thesis/Business Plan. Relevant
industry statistics, charts, and information was incorporated
with the theory that enabled us to produce a business plan that
was backed up by academic findings as well as market
research. This aided in the creation of a Businesss Plan that
would allow StålbroHouse to demonstrate their projections for
the first years of operations.
However, as with any business plan, it is important to
remember that outside factors, market changes etc. can mean
the need to deviate from the initial plan.

Superdry plots emergency sale process if creditors block rescue plan
The struggling fashion chain would run a four-week auction probably resulting in a pre-pack administration if creditors block a restructuring plan, according to a document seen by Sky News.

Superdry is preparing to run an emergency four-week sale process if creditors block its founder's plans to inject up to £10m of his own money into the fashion chain in a bid to stave off insolvency.
Sky News has learnt that the accelerated M&A process would be launched if a restructuring plan is not approved by creditors in the coming weeks.
Under the proposed survival plan, Julian Dunkerton would stump up either £8m in an open offer available to other shareholders or £10m in a placing that would only be accessible to him.
The share sale would precede Superdry's delisting from the London Stock Exchange.
The restructuring plan would need to be approved by creditors, including landlords, in the coming weeks.
According to a document circulated to creditors in recent days and seen by Sky News, rejection of the restructuring plan would be followed by a four-week sale process for Superdry, with the likely outcome of a pre-pack administration deal.
Sources said that Mr Dunkerton's willingness to inject such a substantial chunk of his own fortune into the company reflected his confidence in the company's turnaround prospects.

Last month, Sky News revealed that M&G, the asset manager which owns Superdry's flagship store in central London, was weighing a challenge to its rescue plan.
M&G is believed to have been alarmed by the absence of their participation in a mechanism to allow creditors to benefit from any future recovery in the retailer's performance.
The restructuring plan will not entail immediate shop closures but will impose sizeable rent cuts on landlords of dozens of Superdry outlets.
Sources said the firm is also planning to pull out of a number of overseas markets, including the US.
On Tuesday morning, shares in the company were trading at around 6.7p, giving the indebted company a market capitalisation of less than £7m.
It recently agreed an increased borrowing capacity with Hilco Capital, one of its existing lenders, while it also owes tens of millions of pounds to Bantry Bay.
Mr Dunkerton, who in 2019 returned to the company having previously been ousted, owns just under 30% of the shares.
In recent months, Superdry has raised cash by offloading its brand in regions including India and Asia-Pacific.

Chuck Schumer and bipartisan group of senators unveil plan to control AI – while investing billions of dollars in it
Federal legislation to govern artificial intelligence took another step closer to reality on Wednesday as Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, along with a bipartisan trio of senators, announced a sprawling blueprint to shape how congressional committees tackle the technology in forthcoming bills.
The 31-page roadmap released this week calls for billions of dollars in government spending to accelerate AI research and development, reflecting earlier commitments by Schumer, a Democrat from New York, and the so-called “AI gang” to prioritize US innovation in an intensely competitive field.
It also instructs multiple Senate committees to come up with guardrails for AI to address some of its biggest risks, such as AI-enabled discrimination, job displacement and election interference.
“Harnessing the potential of AI demands an all-hands-on-deck approach and that’s exactly what our bipartisan AI working group has been leading,” Schumer said Wednesday.
Some of the document’s proposals reflect longstanding congressional goals, such as the creation of a national data privacy law that gives consumers more control over their personal information and which could help regulate AI companies’ use of such data.
Others appear modeled after legislation adopted by the European Union, such as a proposed ban on the use of AI for social scoring systems akin to those implemented by the Chinese government.
And it urges congressional committees to develop coherent policies for when and how to impose export controls on “powerful AI systems” — or for designating certain AI models as classified for national security purposes.
The roadmap endorses a recommendation to allocate at least $32 billion a year, or at least 1% of US GDP, on AI research and development, a proposal issued in a 2021 report by the National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence.
The organizing plan developed over months of meetings and listening sessions with top tech companies, civil rights leaders, labor unions and intellectual property holders. And it seeks to reinvigorate a legislative push that began last year , after Schumer took a personal role in spearheading the effort along with New Mexico Democratic Sen. Martin Heinrich and Republican Sens. Mike Rounds of South Dakota and Todd Young of Indiana.
“This roadmap represents the most comprehensive and impactful bipartisan recommendations on artificial intelligence ever issued by the legislative branch,” Young said Wednesday.
The latest plan highlights how Senate leaders are trying to move from a learning phase to an action phase, by issuing assignments to committees to craft legislation that may be passed piecemeal. Schumer has previously said that with the 2024 elections fast approaching, he may make it a top priority to pass legislation aimed at protecting the elections from AI-driven interference.
Schumer has described regulating artificial intelligence as a challenge for Congress unlike any other, vowing a swift timeline measured in months, not years. But policy analysts, and some congressional aides, doubt whether Congress can pass significant legislation regulating AI in an election year.
Meanwhile, the European Union has surged ahead with AI regulation, giving final approval in March to the trading bloc’s landmark EU AI Act that bans certain AI applications altogether and imposes significant restrictions on others deemed to be “high-risk.”
On Wednesday, some in the tech industry applauded the Senate roadmap’s release.
“This AI policy roadmap is an encouraging start, focusing on defending the screen and recording industries against the use of unauthorized replicas,” said Dana Rao, general counsel and chief trust officer at Adobe. “It will be important for governments to provide protections across the wider creative ecosystem.”
Rao urged lawmakers to pass legislation enshrining a national right against impersonation to protect artists from AI-generated clones of themselves.
“Technology is borderless, and as a global leader in innovation, the US needs a clear national AI policy with guardrails so American innovation in AI can safely flourish,” said Gary Shapiro, CEO of the Consumer Technology Association.
Some consumer advocates were more critical, saying the roadmap was vague in its recommendations for addressing AI risks.
“The framework eagerly suggests pouring Americans’ tax dollars into AI research and development for military, defense, and private sector profiteering. Meanwhile, there’s almost nothing meaningful around some of the most important and urgent AI policy issues like the technology’s impact on policing, immigration, and worker’s rights,” said Evan Greer, director of the advocacy group Fight For the Future, adding that the document “reads like it was written by Sam Altman and Big Tech lobbyists.”
